Derec (NOT Derek) has 22 years in the green industry between his agronomic education and experience in the field. He strives to provide practical knowledge to homeowners for the betterment of the environment. From an early age, he has had a desire to get soil, not dirt, under his nails. (They are different.) Derec's formative years led him down a variety of green paths: sod farming, collegiate athletic grounds keeping, landscape design, and plant propagation. These pursuits have led to him becoming a trusted advisor within the landscape construction, maintenance and design communities. In 2007, Derec drew on his past experiences and established Yonder Mountain Conservation Company. After 10 years, he has grown Yonder Mountain into one of State College’s premier landscape contractors. Derec holds a degree in Golf Course management along with certifications from the National Concrete Masonry association, Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and PA Dept. of Agriculture.

When Derec finally does get some time away from the office, you can probably find him exploring Central Pennsylvania’s beautiful landscapes with his wife and kids!
